Composite Dentistry

Composite Fillings

Composite fillings are made of a synthetic resin which can be colored to closely match teeth, providing a completely beautiful and natural look. They bond strongly with the natural tooth structure. Since composite fillings bond with the natural tooth, less of the healthy tooth needs to be removed for application as compared to other filling methods. Synthetic resin does not corrode, making it a great option for filling back teeth and shaping front teeth, as well.

Porcelain Crowns

A porcelain crown is a tooth-like cap that is placed over a tooth to protect its structural integrity. It restores its functionality, shape, and improves its cosmetic appearance. Porcelain crowns are crafted of a tooth-colored medical-grade ceramic in our in-house dental laboratory.

David Halls D.M.D. has the technology and training to provide the convenience of same day crowns. Cerec Same-Day Crowns is the latest in dental crown technology and offers many benefits over the old-style crowns. It makes it possible for patients to leave our office with beautiful custom-made crowns that match better and fit better in a few hours rather than waiting with a temporary in place and returning weeks later for a second appointment for final crown seating. A picture is taken of the damaged tooth and CAD (Computer Aided Design) technology is used to create the restoration. The crown is then made with CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology. Although some dentists complain about the false-looking appearance of this technology, we take the extra time to have our resident artist (yes, she does beautiful paintings in her spare time!) characterize and customize your tooth to absolutely blend in with your natural teeth. Combining Cerec technology’s strong color-matching capabilities and the talent of our in house lab technician, we provide beautiful and natural looking crowns that give us all a reason to smile.

Teeth Whitening

Tooth whitening is one of the most popular procedures in cosmetic dentistry. There are several ways to whiten your smile, including in-office lights, the use of whitening toothpastes, or take-home trays to use with bleaching gel. We recommend bleaching trays for the longest-lasting results with the lowest risk of complications. We will make you custom trays that will fit your teeth and bleach that you can use on an as-needed basis. An added benefit to having the trays is that you can use them with de-sensitizing gel or fluoride gel, increasing the versatility of the trays.

Whitening is most effective with yellow-discolored teeth, rather than grayish or brownish teeth. A patient with tooth decay or infected gums should not whiten their teeth. Whitener does not work well on tooth-color fillings, veneers, or crowns.

Porcelain Fixed Bridges

A porcelain fixed bridge is a safe way to replace missing teeth, restoring your beautiful smile and confidence. The bridge is a permanent fixture and is very durable, though they may need re-cementing or replacement later in their life. Fixed bridges also help to maintain facial shape, prevent movement of other teeth, and restore regular abilities such as chewing and speaking. The bridge includes two crowns that cover the teeth on the sides of the space as well as the artificial tooth or teeth in between. Brushing and flossing correctly is critical to extend the life of your fixed bridge, providing you with the comfort and security of a beautiful smile.
